Making A Financial Complaint

Published / Last Updated on 14/10/2013

Put your complaint in writing and send it to the financial firm who you have a complaint with. The firm then has 5 business days to acknowledge your complaint.Once acknowledged the company would then have some time to investigate the complaint fairly, and issue a response to the complaint. The firm has 8 weeks to give you a result of your complaint whether it’s acceptance or rejection. If you are unhappy with the result of the complaint you can still go further by submitting your complaint to the Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS).In the response from the firm who responsible for the complaint, they are required to give you the instructions on how to make a complaint to the FOS.The FOS will investigate the complaint and make a final ruling. If you are due financial compensation then the company haas a legal duty to give you the compensation. We hope you never have to make a complaint about a service or advice but if the time comes when it is needed this video explains how to do so.
