Intestacy means dying without a will. These are the rules for England and Wales. If the value of the estate is £250,000 or below then all of this will go to your spouse.If the value of the estate is over £250,000 then the first £250,000 will go to your spouse and the remaining is split, with half that will go to your children and the other half can provide an income to your spouse.If you are not married then there is a line of descendants who can inherit your money, starting with your children.
