Budget Speculation 2020 Mansion Tax v Stamp Duty Cut

Published / Last Updated on 15/02/2020

It is speculated that Budget 2020 could introduce a new Mansion Tax or Wealth Tax for assets or homes worth over £2m to be used as a levy to be spent on the NHS.

In addition, some have suggested that the cuts for stamp duty could apply not just for 1st time buyers but across the private residential sector.

We believe that it is inevitable that a wealth tax will come to be in the UK, whether that is this budget or in the future is anyone's guess but a cut in stamp duty we find unlikely.
