The Government has tabled a Bill to make HMRC's Tax Bot calculations legal in court.
Currently, for any tax dispute in court, HMRC's tax calculations must be carried out by a human being.
We recently dealt with someone who had been issued a 'K' (minus) tax code automatically by HMRC's system.
This resulted in £2,000 of additional tax being paid despite the individual not earning enough to pay any tax whatsoever.
HMRC could offer no explanation when we called as to why the person had been given a negative tax code.
CHECK YOUR TAX CODE.
