DWP to Streamline State Pension Benefits

by Ashley Clark, Director

The Department for Work and Pensions is consulting on implementing measures to streamline payment of the State pension to existing benefit claimants.

The measures are set to come into place in August this year and will mean that instead of having to make a fresh claim at State pension time, the DWP will use the existing data they hold and contact the claimant to confirm their State pension will be paid.

This is a much better system and if implemented it will save time for all involved.  It is always frustrating having to duplicate information a department already holds.  This has been recognised and the DWP are doing something about it.
