Sterling v Euro _ He Say

Published / Last Updated on 21/06/2002

FX Currency Services, a travel money distributor, has claimed in a survey of its users and clients that nearly 60% of Britons do not want the Euro.

It said that 57% preferred sterling, with women being more in favour of the pound.  59% of women as compared to 55% of men wish to retain the pound.

Our view

Being loyal to a currency is partly to do with National pride, which we understand, agree and with.  However, from an economic point of view it does not help UK business who wish to trade with Europe.

The Government still have a long road to follow in convincing the public that we should move to the Euro.  We still believe that it is inevitable.
