Sellers Packs _ Homes

Published / Last Updated on 22/09/2002

It seems that the much publicised Government sellers pack for the housing market has again come under fire.  This time the doubts come from the Council of Mortgage Lenders.

These packs were designed to make the home buying and selling experience easier and to reduce the time taken.

However, according to a spokesperson from the Council of Mortgage Lenders, the sellers packs could be expensive to put together and very easily become out of date.

In terms of an alternative, the Council of Mortgage Lenders felt that with recent advances in technology and efficiency between mortgage lenders, the packs may not be necessary.

According to the Council, over the last few years, the time it takes for a mortgage lender to issue a mortgage offer has reduced from 22 days to 15 and systems are constantly being improved. This could wipe out the need for sellers packs altogether.
