Doctors Reports _ Did You Know?

Published / Last Updated on 14/07/2002

Did you know that doctors get paid for giving life insurance companies details of your medical history? It is normal practice when you apply for life insurance for companies to write to your doctor to get an overview of your medical history.

Until recently, it was up to the individual insurance company to negotiate a rate for providing the report.  From the 1 July, rates are being equalised at £54 per report.  This will rise to £60 from April 2003 and will then be increased each year in line with recommendations made by the Doctors and Dentists Review Body.
