Buying online becoming gaining popularity

Published / Last Updated on 08/09/2002

The Zygon Shopping Report 2002, which surveyed 500 people, has revealed that more than two-thirds of shoppers are now using three or more channels to research products. Buying online, using TV and telephone are all now fast becoming the preferred way to shop, compared to trawling the high street. 75% of shoppers plan to use more than three channels to buy goods over the next five years. However, the report said that there are still some concerns about the safety of shopping over the internet.  Although the majority of online shoppers feel comfortable with payment security, 35% said they want correct pricing and more consistent product information on e-channels. IFA Promotion confirmed that an increasing number of IFAs are now installing their own websites, with an increase of almost 20% in the last year. Face-to-face selling, however, would still remain the largest sales channel for people buying financial products with advice.  IFA Promotion added that buying simple products online will probably continue to rise but financial advice is a complicated business and consumers need to interact with IFAs. Common sense prevails!!
