Car Insurance Price Share Warning

The Office of Fair Trading (OFT) has forced several insurers to limit their use of a computer system that lets them swap and compare details about their quotes.  The OFT is concerned that this may have undermined competition between insurers and it would have been a breach of the UK's competition laws.

According to Ruper Roker Consumer Focus, it is bad news for consumers if a motor insurer knows what prices a customer will be quoted by other companies and those customers who have shopped around to get the best price will be left feeling short changed.
