The Government are considering allowing local authorities the power to scrap the discount system that they operate on council tax for people with second homes.
There is currently a 50% discount from council tax bills on these type of properties and will allow authorities to charge the full rate.
This change in stance may also have something to do with the fact that house prices are spiralling out of control and there are fears for inflation and possible interest rate increases .
