North Takes Over South

Published / Last Updated on 09/05/2002

A recent survey by the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors has shown that house prices in the north of England are now rising at a faster rate than in the south.  Our story on 3 May 2002 showed that landlords had turned to the north of England to buy properties to let.  Properties are generally cheaper and it is possible to make a greater return from rent received.  It looks like demand in the north has started to push prices higher.   According to the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors, prices have risen more over the last three months than in the last eight years.  Areas where prices seem to be escalating are Yorkshire, Humberside, Wales and the West Midlands.  Mortgage Calculator .
