After exceeding the minimum number of votes by 300 for his demutualisation resolution, carpetbagger Andrew Muir has been told his resolution is invalid.

According to the letter Mr Muir received, his resolution was rejected as invalid because it tried to advise or direct board members.

Mr Muir stated that he would be asking members of the society for a "no confidence vote against all existing directors".

According to a press officer for Nationwide, each resolution has to be looked at by legal advisers to determine whether or not it seeks to advise or direct the board.

Nationwide's Annual General Meeting is set for 25 July and Mr Muir is one of three candidates up for election to the board of directors.Previous linked story.
