House Price Rise Levelling

Published / Last Updated on 01/07/2002

According to the most recent survey undertaken by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, house prices are still on the up but the rate of increase has levelled.

One problem that seems to be continually affecting surveyors in England and Wales is the lack of properties available.  According to RICS, the ratio between homes on the market and homes actually sold, rose to 64%.  This is the highest level since 1988.

One thing to bear in mind is that summer is (supposedly) here and it can be a quiet time for people buying and selling.  A more accurate picture should arise in a few months time, concluding whether the housing boom is, in fact, over.
