World Food Price High.
According to the World Bank, food prices grew by 15 per cent between October 2010 and January 2011. This is 27 per cent higher than what it was 12 months ago. Current food price levels are now only 3 per cent below their record high in 2008.
President of the World Bank Robert Zoellick believes that the rising food prices had been a major contributory factor in the current conflict across Egypt, Tunisia and other Middle Eastern states.
