Forget second cars, the number of people buying second homes is alleged to have tripled in the last four years.
According to a mortgage specialist, in 1998 only one in twenty five people re-mortgaged their main home to buy another. In 2001 this figure move to one in six. Apparently, the main reason for re-mortgages is now to buy a second home or a holiday home.
