Sir Howard Davies, Chairman of the Financial Services Authority recently announced he will be leaving his post next October.  After five years of taking flack from the industry he is off to take up the post of director of the London School of Economics.

Many questions have been raised following his announcement as to whether one person will take over or the role split.  Many industry figures are calling for the role to be split.

Names currently in the frame to replace Sir Howard include his number two at the FSA, John Tiner, FSA managing director Carol Sargeant, FSA managing director for deposit takers and markets, Michael Foot and Andrew Crockett of the Bank for International Settlements.
