Budget Dec 2012 - Higher Rate Tax Threshold 2013 Reduced

The current higher rate tax threshold, the level of income that you start paying income tax at 40% is currently £42,475.

  • This reduces in April 2013 to £41,450

It then marginally increases at below the inflation rate of 1% for the following two years.

  • April 2014, higher rate tax threshold £41,865
  • April 2015, higher rate tax threshold £42,285

This means that more than 300,000 extra people may start paying the higher level of income tax.
