Budget 2013 Care Fees Cap
The changes to care fees funding as highlighted in the Dilnot report are confirmed:
With effect from 2016
Social care fees will be capped.
Means Test
The amount you have to pay towards your social care, i.e. bed, accommodation, meals will be capped.
- The means test limit at which you have to pay will also be capped.
- Current means test limit £23,500
- New means test limit £118,000
- This is the amount of wealth you are allowed to keep that will not be taken to pay for your care.
Cap on Fees Paid - i.e. total amount you pay
- Current limit - there is no limit you may pay thousands
- New cap on total your will pay for care in old age £72,000
