A couple of weeks ago at the Labour Party Conference, the Association of British Insurers (ABI) - the representative body for insurance companies, has set out its plan to resolve the current and escalating pensions and savings crisis.
Their research shows that less than 15% of the public trust the Government with regard to pensions or savings plans and that clear messages need to be delivered and re-enforced to the saving public.
Their plans call for transparency, clear targets, fair assessments on whether policy changes are being affective, full reform of both the state and employer private sector pensions system plus much more.
Our view
Head in the sand time again. The views are admirable but this or any successive government will find it hard to make the necessary changes or enforce some form of compulsory savings campaign to get the public to save and still get elected.
With one eye on the ballot box, politics will rule reality.
