Wealth Up By 10%

Published / Last Updated on 09/03/2003

Over the last two years personal wealth has increased by around 10%, according to an IBM survey.

Two years ago the average personal wealth was £64,000.  The figure is now £70,000.  Property prices have obviously added to the increase in wealth but then you need to offset the losses made on stock market investments.

According to the survey, the poorest people have upto £25,000 in wealth, of which almost half is made up from property.  The rest is split around cash, insurance, other assets and other property.

The richest people have more than £1m in wealth with almost half made up from their own UK property and other property.  Securities, cash and other assets featured heavily.
