Pension Deficit June

by Ashley Clark, Director

The Pension Protection Fund (PPF) has released figures that the 6,000 final salary pension schemes in the UK have a pension deficit of 21.8bn in June.

This is a swing of over £30bn, where pension funds overall were in surplus of 11.7bn in May.

We suggest the major contributor is poor investment returns in June, where stockmarkets suffered falls of over 10% with worries in Europe, and both the UK and US confirming reduced economic output figures.
