Office for National Statistics (ONS) has released figures that the number of personal bankruptcy for 2009 in England and Wales are up, with the North-East suffering the most.
The figures show that yet again there is a North-South divide with London and South East having the lowest level of bankruptcy applications.
The higher bankruptcy numbers we suggest is down to more redundancy, higher unemployment and a great proportion of personal debt and borrowing per household in the north than in the south.
Expect more of the same over the next year or so.
