Highlands Property Rises Faster Than Edinburgh
Highlands property prices rose faster than in Edinburgh according to figures from Bank of Scotland.
The figures revealed that house prices in the remote Scottish Highlands have risen faster than any other area north of the border in the past decade, with the cost of a home in the region more than trebling since 1997.
The average price of a house in the Highlands in 2007 was £173,081, more than three times the £53,991 a home cost 10 years ago. Elsewhere, other parts of Scotland also reported strong house price growth, with prices in all Scottish countries more than doubling.
Our view
The ‘great white rush’ of people moving away from cities to country is still strong. Expect more remote property increases whilst the rest of the property market slows.
