Get Your House In Order DWP

The Tories have launched an attack on the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) saying that they should fix their administration errors before embarking on the introduction of the new Pension Credit on October 5.  Michael Fallon, Tory MP and chairman Treasury Select Committee conducting enquiries into the operation of the Inland Revenue, has said that the DWP need to resolve the issues of over 220,000 tax credit applications still outstanding before tackling this new introduction.

Our view:

He has a point, however, the Pension Credit benefits those who have bothered to save by giving them enhanced income.  Why should they suffer?  As the Committee, the software company who developed the Revenue payment systems, the Inland Revenue and DWP all argue it out, the only person that would lose out by delay is the pensioner. For a change, why should heads not roll?  If they cannot cope then get the fat cats to take a pay cut and recruit more staff.  Time and time again "state businesses".
