Eurozone Retail Boom.

The EU statistics office Eurostat showed that retail trade in Europe rose in November by 1.4%. This was an improvement from October which saw a decline of 0.4%.

The rise which was the biggest since 2001 was led by strong non-food product sales. Overall a rise of 1.6% was seen when compared with the year before.

These results did not include Latvia which joined the Euro recently with mixed opinions. Portugal had the highest rise in retail trade with +3.1% and the lowest was recorded in Malta with -2.1%.

Unemployment in the Eurozone remained unchanged for the eighth month in a row. The worst unemployment rate was seen in Spain at 26.7%, however Greece may come out on top as data from the country is yet to be seen. The last recording of unemployment was taken in September which was 27.4%.
