Budget 2008: Charity Gift Aid Tax Relief Stays at 22%

Chancellor Alistair Darling has introduced a transitional rate of 22 per cent for charities to continue to claim gift aid at the current rate of income tax and not reduce it to 20% as basic rate income tax reduces to 20% does on 6 April.  

He said: "This would deliver £300m of relief and would give charities the certainty they need for the next years."
