Online Probate Application Starts.

HM Courts and Tribunals Service yesterday launched a new service allowing you to apply for probate online.

The online probate service is currently only available if:

One personal executor only of the Will (not professional executors or multiple executors just yet but we are these will follow).

The original Will is available (this must still be posted to the probate court along with two photocopies).

Only applies to England and Wales.

The online application process includes:

Details of the executor and the deceased.

A ‘Statement of Truth’ that all facts are correct (this means you do not need an appointment at the probate office to swear an oath.

Pay probate fees online.

After completion there are still items that must be posted:

Original Will.

Two photocopies of the Will.

Death Certificate.

HMRC Inheritance Tax Forms and figures and where applicable, proof of payment.
