Research by the London School of Economic has suggested that parents are prepared to pay as much as £20,000 extra for a house by a decent primary school.
The research covered the whole country and was based on test results at age 11 and local house prices.
Apparently, for every 10% of children that performed well at the primary school, houses in the South East and London jumped by £15,000. In the north of the country the rise was £6,100 and £5,200 in the West Midlands.
