Third of UK Rents Too Expensive.

A report from the Resolution Foundation found that lower income working families are geographically restricted from a third of Britain due to higher rents.

As expected, Low income families are found to be unable to most of southern England.

This is said to be making families make a choice between their perfect home and other essentials.

Private rental properties are usually the only option for many families with social housing unavailable and home ownership out of reach.

Our View

This is a simple matter of supply and demand economics.  If more people wish to the live in certain areas for work committments or "up-market" areas, then whether you are buying or renting, prices will always be higher.

This has always been the case and will continue to be the case. You only have to look at other cities and towns around the globe with poorer and wealthier areas to see the same supply/demand for property in action.

We do not believe Governments or other organisations should meddle with ecomonic fundamentals.  It is the same reason why the benefits cap will hurt, currently at £500 per week.

If you do not work, why should you live in expensive areas and be subsidised by the state, when people are working hard to pay to live in those same areas.  Polictical incorrect statement we know, but supply and demand should be allowed to prevail.

Reversing the term, on a positive 'spin', two thirds of the country is affordable.
