Temporary Staff Contracts Now The Norm

Published / Last Updated on 23/05/2006

Despite an increase in the number of people in paid work, figures from the Office for National Statistics have showed that employers are remaining cautious about hiring new staff.

It is believed that this is because Britain is in a transitional market, becoming a buyers market.  The report found that employers are looking for temporary to permanent employees, and once they know that they can do the job, will fully employ them.

It is believed that concentrated hiring of temporary staff and self-employed contract staff is normally a sign that employers are uncertain about the state of the economy.
