State Pension Age 66

State Pension Age 66

by Ashley Clark, Director

The Work and Pensions Secretary Iain Duncan Smith today announced that the State pension age will rise for men to 66 as early as 2016.

The Government has also announced a review of whether to abolish or increase the standard retirement age of 65.  The general consensus is that people should be allowed to work for as long as they choose to.

Obviously, there will be issues in terms of someone still being competent and capable to fulfil their role as they get older.  This will be one of the discussion topics we are sure.
