Standard v Carpetbagger

Published / Last Updated on 29/03/2003

Carpetbagger, David Stonebanks, has been invited for talks with the Standard Life Board.  This follows yet a further attempt by carpetbaggers to de-mutualise Standard Life.

Standard Life say that they wish to hear the proposals of Mr Stonebanks who currently has 300 of the 1,000 policyholder member votes required to force a full ballot.

Our view

Yet another attack.  No provider invites someone in for talks just to hear their proposals and give them a chance.  This is about the board protecting the mutuality of the company and of course, possibly their own positions, given the recent salary increase speculation.
