Property Market Scotland Good
A report from Lloyds TSB Scotland has claimed that the Scottish housing market is showing a more positive picture and is more sustainable than elsewhere in the UK. The average price of a house in Scotland rose by 1.6 per cent to £172,185 in the past quarter. The downside is that the volume of transactions has slumped by27 per cent as more people decide not to move house at present. Chief economist for Lloyds TSB Scotland, Donald McRae said “The price boom of the last five year may well have passed into history, but so far the effect of its demise is to slow the number of transactions rather than cause a drop in prices.
The study showed Edinburgh remains the most expensive place to live in Scotland, with prices at an average of £226,652, after a 1.9 per cent rise in the quarter. Prices in Glasgow rose 0.6 per cent in the quarter to an average price of £167,282. In Dundee, prices fell by 5.2 per cent to £141,588 and properties in Aberdeen fell 2.8 per cent to an average of £197,546.
