An Unum Provident survey has found that more than a third of British workers have accepted that they will have to work past the age of 65, for financial reasons. The survey also revealed that 31% of workers were concerned that their workplace was not set up to cope with older staff.
New regulations, due to be introduced in October 2006 will enable all employees to request working beyond the age of 65. Only 8% of businesses surveyed have people working for them over the age of 55.
The report recommends that employers need to review the workplace practices to ensure that they are set up to cope with older staff.
