Pay Fee For Employment Tribunal.
New rules mean that employees could have to pay up to £1,200 for a hearing if they believe they have mis-treated by their employer. The previous rules which allowed for a hearing for free were scrapped by the government.
Tribunals are normally a result of if an employee thinks they have been treated unfairly or if their employer has broken the law. The change will allow the Ministry of Justice to save up to £84m a year with other focuses going on mediation and settlements to allow the use of hearings to be a last resort.

As employers, we are mindful of employee rights. That said, as well as a large proportion of good employees, there are many employees across the UK who do not perform to required standards, who falsify sickness claims or treat their job and their bosses with contempt.
It is too easy for people to go to an employment tribunal. It is too easy for people to go to the financial ombudsman with less than string arguments claiming poor advice. Many claims companies solicit business when there is no rightful claim and clog up systems. Why is it that the Financial Ombudsman is creaking at the seams with 2m claims per month?
Why is it that employers and firms have to pay, even if a claim has no merit yet the consumer does not. 'Claim and Blame' culture must stop. A classic example in the headlines this week was a little girl who's mother made cakes for a school fete and they could not be sold because mum did not have a hygiene certificate?
This is waht Britain has become and we welcome application fees for claims for an employment tribunal and hope it crosses over to all areas of the claims industry. Those that have valid claims, will get their money back, those that have vicious or vexatious claims will be discouraged.
