Large Pension Funds At Risk

According the Pensions Regulator and the Pension Protection Fund, pension scheme trustees are under greater pressure than ever as the poor economy, poor investments returns in the funds and the risk of employers going bankrupt becomes greater.

The joint annual report, known as the ‘Purple Book’ warns that increased insolvency and poor investment markets is placing at risk man of the 6,900 final salary pension schemes.

Our view is very simple.  Final salary schemes are extremely expensive and a benefit that many people are actually not worth as they do not ‘earn’ it in profit for their business.  Final salary schemes will eventually die and the sooner the industry and country recognises this, the better it will be for all.
