Interest Rates Increase By 0.25%

The Bank of England’s Monetary Policy Committee today voted to raise the official Bank Rate paid on commercial bank reserves by 0.25 percentage points to 5.75%.

Inflation fell back to 2.5% in May, which is still short of target at 2.0%.

Our view

Inflation is starting to turn and we believe this spells one of the last interest rate increases and we should start to see some stability.
