A survey conducted by Energy Savings Trust has highlighted how little is known about Energy Performance Certificates, an amazing 53 per cent were ‘in the dark’ about them.
Almost half of the households surveyed wanted to know how green their home was, and would be more likely to use this information when considering home improvements.
Our view
More public awareness campaigns are needed as people as just not aware of Energy Performance Certificates and Home Information Packs and more needs to be done.
Many of the most popular properties in the future are likely to either those with good ratings or those who just do not care about its efficiency and want character i.e. properties ones with low energy efficiency, those that include high ceilings, period features and large windows.
