Country Living Is The Dream

Published / Last Updated on 11/10/2007

It would seem that most Brits aspire to living in a detached house in the country.  This is according to research conducted by Halifax, who surveyed 1,321 people.  Of those surveyed half placed the country living as their preference, with bungalows the next choice.

Conversions of barns, schools, castle or mills were also a popular choice with 13 per cent stating this as their preference.  Location was also an area where people had strong views, with the countryside being top, followed by the seaside and then a ‘quaint’ village.

The ideal property was a three bedroomed; new build, with a conservatory and a playroom.  Although this is an ideal situation, some people believe that looking for this dream home, at the moment would be a nightmare as property prices and interest rates are high.
