Iceland Bank Icesave Referendum

The Icelandic government has announced it is to hold a referendum to determine whether payments should be made to Dutch and British residents who lost money when Icesave collapsed.

Iceland has been asked to repay £5bn to the UK and Dutch Governments, which had previously been agreed.  The referendum is being held as around 70% of Icelandic residents are opposed to the payment.
