Forty-Somethings Wealthiest
Findings from insurance company More Than’s inaugural survey of material wealth reveals that 46 year olds are worth the most when it comes to the total value of their personal possessions. The next best age was 28, with individuals holding an average of £33,166 in personal possessions. But the report also exposed large discrepancies between perceived and actual “lifesworth” values, suggesting Britons are too caught up in the daily grind to take stock of what they are worth.
Dowshan Humzah, product director for More Than said, “It is interesting that the magic lifesworth age falls within the fifth decade – it add weight to the old adage that ‘life begins at 40’. What is concerning however is how little thought people seem to be giving to the total value of their possessions”.
Our view
We cannot argue with the figures but we suggest there picture is changing quickly as the population ages and wealth stays with the elderly as we live longer rather than being passed on
