According to a recent survey by Abbey, almost 50% of people questioned have no life insurance. Almost 80% of the population apparently have no cover in the event them suffering a serious illness.
Whilst the life insurance statistics are shocking, 60% of people surveyed have partners and/or children who are financially dependent on them, which makes it worse.
Our View
Many people ignore the need to protect themselves and their families in the event of death or serious illness. You are 6 times more likely to suffer a serious illness than die, meaning many more families will suffer financially if the worst happened.
Life insurance is exceptionally cheap and even a few thousand pounds worth of cover could help. Critical illness cover is getting more expensive because of the advances in medical science.
