The long-awaited pensions bill was released last week with not much to talk about in the content.
Whilst a new pensions regulator and pension protection fund were proposed, none of the simplification issues were covered in any depth. This has left many campaigners unhappy.
The most prominent omission from the Bill was the removal of legislation, forcing people to purchase an annuity at age 75.
Our View
We have been waiting for the outcome of the Government's pension simplification proposals for quite a while now and there has been much speculation. Nothing concrete has come from the Bill and we all still seem to be in the same position. It really is disappointing.
