Trials of the new Home Conditions Reports have been taking place with consumers recently and have received positive support. 95% of buyers said they found the report useful and 54% of those that had purchased property before said the report was more useful than previous surveys and reports they had used.
Apparently, both buyers and sellers have reacted positively to the reports, with 88% of buyers and 78% of sellers feeling that the report accurately reflected the property's condition.
Our View
This much positive support for documentation involved in house buying and selling must be good! Only 10% of people said that the report caused problems when selling their home. If 90% thought the report was useful, the other 10% may have had things wrong with their homes that were picked up by the report. If this is the case, the report has put any potential buyer in a more informed position. This can only be good news.
