CPI Inflation Rockets To 5.2 Per Cent.

The Consumer Prices Index (CPI) has risen to 5.2%.  This rate is the highest CPI measure seen since September 2008.  

The Retail Prices Index (RPI) also rose to 5.6%.  The latest RPI rate is the highest annual rate since June 1991.

According to the Office for National Statistics, an increase in energy costs was the major reason for the increase in CPI.
