Claims Declined For Non Disclosure

Published / Last Updated on 13/09/2006

Norwich Union has commented that non-disclosure of depression, smoking, anxiety and multiple sclerosis are the most common reasons for declining life insurance claims.

Norwich believe that non disclosure is generally due to a mix of embarrassment or not wanting to face up to an illness they have.

Our view

Making a full medical disclosure is vital if you want to ensure a claim will be paid. Even if you have medical conditions, cover can generally be found for you, even if it is more expensive.

There is no point paying premiums on a policy you would not have been entitled to, had you disclosed your conditions.
