Windfalls For Executives

Following the flotation of Standard Life, it has been reported that nine executives will receive a shared bonus of £2.8million. The bonuses will be given as ordinary shares under the company’s incentive plan.

The good news is that the executives will only receive the profits if the company makes a 10.5% return by the end of 2007.

Our view

At least the bonuses were not handed out in cash – this way there is an incentive for all executives to make sure Standard Life produces growth of at least 10.5%.

Working towards and achieving this target will be good news for policyholders.
