Budget 2008: Our View On Yesterday’s Budget

Budget 2008 was in our opinion little more than a reaffirmation of what was announced on the October pre-Budget speech.

There were no significant U-turns on capital gains tax, we knew that basic rate income tax was falling to 20% and that the 10% tax band disappears and there was no change to the new tax levy for non-UK domicile foreigners who are resident in the UK but have earned income overseas.

In short, this was a nothing, boring budget with all the news being old news.
