British Start Pension Before Europe

The British start pension planning before our friends in Europe according to a study by AXA.

71 per cent of working Brits have started financial preparations for their retirement, compared with the global average of 54 per cent.  British people on average, start planning for their retirement at 28, some 5 years earlier than the international average age.  The study also revealed that 29 per cent of Brits who have not yet starter preparing for retirement admitted that they did not expect to do so until the age of 47.

Our view

Pensions and retirement creep up on us very slowly and then before we know we are in our mid-fifties with little or no pension.  We repeat the same message as for today’s other news item.  People need to “live for today with one eye on tomorrow” by saving at least something in ISAs or pensions.
